Simulium (Gomphostilbia) brinchangense: Takaoka et al., 2014f: 55 View in CoL –61 (Female, male pupa and larva).
This species was described from females, males, pupae, and larvae ( Takaoka et al., 2014f). It is similar to S. asakoae View in CoL but distinguished from the latter species in the male by the brown upper-eye facets, in the pupa by abdominal segments 1 and 2 not darkened on the dorsal surface and in the larva by the head capsule which is not darkened around the postgenal cleft.
The pupae and larvae were collected from a small stream at high elevation (1,813 m) in Cameron Highlands.
This species was once recorded from Vietnam ( Takaoka et al., 2014c). However, it was later described as a new species, S. (G.) sanchayense Takaoka & Lau , based on an analysis of the COI gene sequences (Takaoka et al., 2017a).
