Diagnosis: Length 8–10 mm, width 4–5 mm; body large, broad, and often flattened, 2¥ longer than wide; pronotum transverse, 1.4–1.5¥ wider than long, coarsely, but shallowly punctured, apical margin nearly straight, widest at middle, nearly as wide at base, but sometimes constricted; elytra with striae formed by deep punctures, single irregular row of fine punctures in the intervals between the striae; dorsal tooth of right mandible present but weak.

Distribution: Floreana Island, and its nearby satellite islets of Champion, and Gardner at Floreana. On Floreana it is known from: sites around Black Beach, Post Office Bay, inland from Las Cuevas, at the Ritter Farm, the Cruz Farm, Punta Cormoran and the summit of Cerro Pajas.

Bionomics: The species occurs in littoral and arid zone habitats, from sea level up to 550 m on summit of Cerro Pajas. Found under shrubs, in mangrove litter, at sea lion dung, and under stones on ash and soil, and on calcareous beach sand at night. Adults collected from January to August, and October and December. Examined: 395 specimens.
