Xyleborus laevis Eggers, 1923: 201 .

Distribution: Federated States of Micronesia, Indonesia (Java, Kalimantan), Malaysia (E. and W.), New Guinea and offshore islands, Philippines, Solomon Is., Taiwan. Recorded from timber imported to Japan from Taiwan ( Browne 1981). Its presence on the island can now be confirmed. [4]

New record: Nantou, Hui Son , 10.ii.2007 (L. Y. Liu) (1) .

Hosts: Polyphagous ( Browne 1961; Kalshoven 1959).

Biology: The biology and gallery system are briefly described by Browne (1961) and Kalshoven (1959).

Taxonomy: This species is given as a synonym of Planiculus bicolor (Blandford) by Hulcr and Cognato (2010), but we consider it to be a distinct species.
