4. Chremistica kyoungheeae View in CoL sp. nov.

( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 )

Type material. Holotype: male ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A, B), Mindanao, Agusan Sur, 10 km S.E. of Trento Santa Maria, 185 m, 08°01.615’N 126°12.322’E, 27–28 IV 2008, J.H. Lourens ( IRSNB). Paratypes: 7 males, 16 females, same data as holotype ( IRSNB); 1 female, Mindanao, Surigao del Sur, N. of Lianga, 13 km W. of Diatagon, 430 m, 08°44.475’N 126°05.632’E, 22–23 V 2007, J.H. Lourens ( IRSNB); 1 male, Mindanao, Surigao Sur, Diatagon, 350 m, 08°43.308’N 126°05.691’E, 16 III 2009, J.H. Lourens & K. Cerny ( IRSNB); 1 female, Mindanao, Surigao Sur, San Augustin Brgy Gata, 140 m, 08°43.308’N 126°05.691’E, 17–18 III 2009, J.H. Lourens & K. Cerny ( IRSNB).

Etymology. The new species is named for my wife, Kyoung Hee Kim, in gratitude for her constant support in my work in every possible way.

Measurements of types (in mm, 9 males, 18 females). Length of body: male 26.1 (24.4–27.2), female 22.6 (21.2–25.1); width of head including eyes: male 11.2 (10.3–11.7), female 10.5 (9.9–11.3); wing span: male 76.3 (72.3–79.8), female 71.3 (67.0–76.5); ratio of body length to head width: male 2.33 (2.29–2.37), female 2.15 (2.10–2.24).

Diagnosis. This species is closely allied to C. minor but is distinguished by the following characters: body much larger than C. minor (male body length approximately 26.0 (24.4–27.2) versus approximately 20.9 (20.1–21.7) in C. minor ); paramedian obconical spots on submedian sigilla of mesonotum comparatively larger, about 1/2 as long as the length of mesonotum (about 1/ 3 in C. minor ); ochraceous band along posterior margin of abdominal tergite 3 with a drastically narrowed median 1/3 (in rather constant thickness in C. minor ); costal vein greenish (olivaceous to ochraceous in C. minor ). The uniqueness of the shapes of the uncus and the basal lobe of pygofer separate this species from all other species in Chremistica (See the description of the male genitalia below and Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 C, D).

Description of male ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A, B). Head ochraceous to greenish ochraceous with following black to fuscous marks: a large median spot enclosing ocelli, of which anterior end reaches frontoclypeal suture; a pair of large spots often in a triangular shape on the sides of the median spot, touching with the median spot and extending to and surrounding compound eye; a transverse fascia along posterior margin of head, which is connected to posterior end of the median spot. Distance between lateral ocelli and compound eyes longer than distance between lateral ocelli but much narrower than twice the distance between lateral ocelli. Postclypeus considerably swollen. Antenna fuscous to dark brown. Ventral part of head ochraceous with black marks. Postclypeus with a pair of medial longitudinal fasciae and transverse fasciae along transverse grooves. Anteclypeus with a pair of large (rarely divided into several pairs of small) marks, which occupy most part of anteclypeus except a narrow longitudinal median part. Rostrum black apically and with a longitudinal median fascia on labium; slightly passing posterior margin of hind trochanter. Lorum with a large patch occupying most part of lorum except outer margin. Gena with one or two irregular-shaped and irregular-sized spot(s) between postclypeus and compound eye.

Pronotum greenish ochraceous to yellowish green. Inner area of pronotum with following black to fuscous markings: a pair of transversely arranged median small triangular or semicircular spots on anterior margin; a pair of medial longitudinal fasciae on posterior 1/2 to 2/3 of inner area, which rarely are connected with the median small spots; a pair of narrow fasciae along paramedian fissures; a pair of curved narrow fasciae along lateral and posterior margins of inner area, of which medial part usually is disconnected. Pronotal collar with a pair of branch-like fasciae derived from lateral corner of inner area. Lateral pronotal collar slightly developed and roundly angulated with an angle of 130–150°.

Mesonotum ochraceous, often tinged with green, with following black to fuscous marks: a pair of paramedian obconical spots on submedian sigilla; a pair of semi-rings along margin of lateral sigilla; a large median mark just anteriorly to cruciform elevation, enclosing a pair of transversely arranged spots of ground colour, of which anterior end acutely extends anteriad. Cruciform elevation greenish ochraceous with a small black spot on anterior branch. Ventral part of thorax mostly ochraceous.

Legs ochraceous, greenish ochraceous, to reddish brown. Fore-femur with a small subapical spine as well as primary and secondary spines; with a fuscous fascia along midline of ventral side. Fore- and mid-tarsi fuscous basally and distally. Pretarsal claws fuscous apically.

Wings hyaline. Forewing venation greenish basally and brownish to fuscous apically, without distinct infuscation. Costal vein greenish. Basal cell tinged with green. Basal membrane grayish. Hind wing jugum grayish.

Operculum brown, but paler and covered with white pruinosity on lateral margin; slightly longer than wide, with slightly oblique and convex lateral margin and rounded apical margin; not reaching posterior margin of sternite II. Two opercula overlapping medially.

Abdomen about as long as distance from head to cruciform elevation; mostly black with dark ochraceous band along caudal margin of each tergite. Ochraceous band on tergites 3 and 4 with a drastically narrowed median 1/3. Timbal cover dark ochraceous. Ventral part of abdomen brown.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 C, D): Pygofer brown. Uncus with a widely truncate apex and with a pair of lateral protrusions acutely pointing downward. Basal lobe of pygofer long, with a narrow roundish apex and with a semicircular inner finlike expansion and a longitudinally long outer finlike expansion. Dorsal beak triangular, not extending beyond anal styles.

Description of female. Operculum greenish ochraceous with black inner and lateral margins basally; not reaching posterior margin of sternite II. Abdomen mostly black with dark ochraceous band along caudal margin of each tergite. Ochraceous band on tergites 2, 3, and 4 with a drastically narrowed median 1/3. Ventral part of abdomen castaneous with a pair of black spots on sternite VII. Ventral part of abdominal segment 9 with a pair of black spots. Ovipositor sheath fuscous, of which protruding part is about as long as anal styles. Dorsal beak slightly beyond anal styles or protruding part of ovipositor sheath.

Distribution. Philippines (Mindanao).
