Merrill (1923) validly published the name Solanum debilissimum Merr. with only one gathering, McClure 9532, cited in the protologue. However, the collecting number on the label of the syntype specimen exists in A is 2979, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 9523.Therefore, the erroneous collecting number is to be corrected.
