Afrotropical: 1) South Africa ( Horak et al. 2018).

Bibi et al. (2020) stated that Ixodes rubicundus was found in Pakistan, while Ekanem et al. (2011) listed this tick as found in Nigeria, under the name Ixodes ribicundus , a lapsus. These records are treated here as doubtful, and both Pakistan and Nigeria are not included within the range of this tick.
