Note. The specimen labelled as BC ZSM Lep 65174 has been used for barcoding. Molecular distance based on the Kimura two-parameter model for COI DNA barcodes between nearest B. hemodoides and B. hreblayi is 5,42%.
Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 5, 6 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Wingspan 36–43 mm. The species is close to B. biformis having deeper bluishgreen ground colour of forewing and more developed dark-brown elements of wing pattern in subbasal and subterminal fields. Medial field with pale greyish medial shadow bordered with diffused white lines; orbicular as white diffused spot, reniform as transversal blackish streak, separated for two dots; subterminal line blackish with irregular white bordering, sometimes broken for large separate dashes; apical, subapical and tornal areas brown with blackish dashes, more developed compared with B. biformis . The hindwing are dull greyish-brown, paler yellowish-grey towards base and along anal margin; in some specimens medial discal spot and fascia are traceable.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 32 – 34 ). Differs from B. biformis by more solid uncus, somewhat narrow and less membranous valva with less developed basal coremata, by stronger ventral margin; wider and more acute shape of harpe. Aedeagus with dorsal branch of carina bearing short finger-like extension (absent in B. biformis ); vesica basally bulbous, tubular apically, with 6–8 moderate cornuti; ventral branch of carina with patch of small spines more dispersed than in B. biformis .
Female genitalia ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 41 – 45 ). In the female genitalia antrum narrower than in B. biformis , split; ductus bursae shorter than in B. biformis , sclerotised patch in joining of ductus and corpus bursae more clearly formed and more sclerotised than in B. biformis , having quadrangular shape; the main part of corpus bursae is longer than in B. biformis , with broad clear caudal-lateral extension; the bottom of corpus bursae is slightly taper, rather than be rounded like in B. biformis .
Distribution and bionomics. * Vietnam (Lao Cai), * Thailand (Prov. Nakhon Ratchasima, Chumphon), Singapore, Malaysia, Borneo (Prov. Kalimantan, Timur, Prov. Daerah Tingkat and Kalimantan Barat), Brunei (Seria, Ulu Temburong), Indonesia (Great Sunda Islands), * Philippines (Isl. Leyte, Luzon, Mindoro, Palawan, Samar). The species occurs in lowland and mountain areas at elevation range 300–1700 m. Moths flying in January, April, September, December.
The most widespread species of the genus, reported here for Vietnam, Thailand and Philippines for the first time.
