Ecology. Hanging down from an overhang of a limestone wall in the supralittoral fringe (just above the Bostrychia zone).

Note. The field identification of this collection was Rhizoclonium africanum Kützing because of its gross morphology, colour and ecology. However, microscopic analysis showed that the cell diameter (20–25 mm) and cell wall thickness (3–5 mm) are smaller than in R. africanum and the typical intercalary rhizoids are missing.
