( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 7 – 10 )
Lamellipalpus brendelli Wittmer, 1995 View in CoL , Mitt. ent. Ges. Basel 45(3): 106
Type locality: Thailand, Tak Province, Mae Chan / Mae Klong confluence.
Description. 3. Habitus: Oblong, testaceous; elytra usually brown except for the basal ¼ as well as the suture and the outer margin which are testaceous. Underside completely testaceous.
Head: Large, testaceous yellow; distance from eye to pronotum equal to 1.2 times diameter of eye. Interocular space very large, 3 times as large as eye diameter. Anterior margin of frons concave, straight on middle. Head only slightly depressed on antero-median part. Surface shining, covered with fine punctures and very fine and long yellow setae. Mandibles long, slightly curved and broadened at base. Last segment of maxillary and labial palpi broad, 3 times as long as broad, flattened and strongly elongate, about 1/3 longer than mandibles, with fine pubescence; setae dense, fine and testaceous. Antennae cylindrical, short, 1st and 3rd joints elongate, 2nd joint very small, globular, 4th–11th joints subequal and about 1.1 times as long as broad, the 11th joint elongate.
Pronotum: Testaceous yellow, transverse, depressed posteriorly before angles. Sides slightly rounded. Posterior angles protruding and slightly obliquely carinate. Entire surface shining with small punctures, each with a long and very fine yellow seta. Scutellum broad, triangular and testaceous.
Elytra: Brown, testaceous on basal quarter as well as along suture and along whole length of outer margin. Sides slightly dilated, broadest behind middle, with 3 very superficial costae and superficially punctured. Punctures less impressed particularly on basal half, very large and distinct at base, closer together on apical half. Pubescence dense; setae short, very fine and brown. Elytral margin distinctly bordered.
Underside: Completely testaceous, finely and densely pubescent.
Aedeagus: Small, lateral lobes thin and narrow, rounded posteriorly, ending in a sharp point dorsally. median lobe with a sharp ridge dorsally.
Female: Unknown.
Measurements: TL: 6.6–7.3 mm; TL-H: 5.6–6.5 mm; HL: 1.1–1.2 mm; HW: 1.9–2.2 mm; LP: 1.5
Type material: W. Thailand, 300m, Tung Yai Wildlife Sanctuary, Tak Province, Umphang District, Mae Chan/Mae Klong confluence, 15°30’ – 98°48’E, 27.IV.–6.V.1988, Oak/bamboo forest, M.J.D Brendell, B.M. 1988-183 (3 3 Paratypes; NHMB).
Additional material: N. E. Thailand, 800 m, Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary, Chaiyaphum Province, Khon San, 16°30'N – 101°46' E, 13.–15.V.1988, Evergreen rain forest, M.J.D. Brendell, B. M. 1988-183 (1; NHML).
Affinities: This species comes close to Lamellipalpus flavomarginatus sp. nov. but can easily be distinguished by the testaceous colour of the elytra, which occupies at least the whole basal quarter, by the puncturation on elytra, which is obsolescent and sparse, whereas it is strongly impressed and dense in L. flavomarginatus sp. nov.. The last joints of the maxillary and labial palpi are broader and shorter.
Distribution: N Thailand (Tak, Chaiyaphum).
