Lamellipalpus nigripennis (Pascoe) View in CoL , Maulik, 1921, Proc. Zool. Soc. London: 580

Type locality: Burma.

Description. 3. Habitus: Broad, mostly testaceous to brown. Antennae brown from the 3rd joint onwards. Elytra brown, somewhat lighter at extreme base.

Head: Large, testaceous; distance from eye to pronotum 2.2 times as long as diameter of an eye. Interocular space very large, 3.0 times as large as eye diameter. Anterior margin of frons regularly and convexly curved; head distinctly convex, only depressed on antero-median part. Surface shining, covered with fine punctures and very fine and long yellow setae. Mandibles strong, long, straight, only slightly curved. Last segment of maxillary long, 3.5 times as long as broad, flattened, with a fine pubescence; setae dense, fine and testaceous. Apex of last joint of maxillary palpi broadly rounded, but labial palpi narrowly so; the latter somewhat longer than maxillary palpi. Antennae short, indistinctly serrate, 1st joint elongate, 2nd joint cylindrical, 3rd and following joints flattened, subserrate, subequal, about 1.2 times as long as broad; 10th joint as long as broad and 11th joint 2.3 times as long as broad.

Pronotum: Testaceous brown, transverse, deeply depressed posteriorly before angles. Posterior angles protruding and only superficially carinate. Entire surface shining with small punctures, each with a long and very fine yellow seta. Scutellum broad, triangular and testaceous.

Elytra: brown, broad, with the sides slightly dilated, almost parallel, broadest behind middle, with 3 superficial but distinct costae and a coarse puncturation. Punctures superficial and strongly confluent, not visible individually. Pubescence dense; setae short, very fine and brown. Elytral margins distinctly bordered.

Underside: Completely testaceous, finely and densely pubescent.

Aedeagus: Lateral lobes narrow, rounded and with a few setae posteriorly. Median lobe median lobe with a sharp ridge dorsally.

Female: Unknown.

Measurements: TL: 9.0 mm; TL-H: 8.5 mm; HL: 1.7 mm; HW: 2.5 mm; LP: 2.0 mm.

Type material: Holotype 3 ( NHML): “Burmah”, “ Type ”; “ Eugeusis nigripennis Pasc. ”, “ Eugeusis nigripennis Pasc. ”, “Pascoe Coll. 93–60”, “ Lamellipalpus nigripennis Pascoe , det. S. Maulik 1921 ”.

Affinities: This species is one of the larger species and should be placed near L. bombayensis Maulik. It can be distinguished by the antennae which are subserrate.

Distribution: Myanmar.
