Type:— TURKEY. Erzurum, Armenia, inter fontes Araxis et radices boreales montis Bingoldagh , ca. 2000 m, Tchihatchef 930 (G! [G00330444!], holotype; isotype P! [P2284074!]) .
Distribution and habitat: — Cephalaria tchihatchewii is distributed in Turkey, Armenia and Caucasus. It was reported from W Iran in Flora of Turkey ( Matthews 1972) and NW Iran in Flora USSR ( Bobrov 1957), but was not found in our collections and also during our field excursions from W and NW Iran. Consequently, this species is excluded from the flora of Iran.
