Timbaraba View in CoL , new genus

Type Species. Timbaraba dispar View in CoL , new species, by present designation.

Description. Frons transverse, short and vertical; antennal tubercles feebly prominent, subacuminate. Submentum depressed, coarsely punctorugose, clothed with yellowish pubescence. Eyes coarsely faceted, deeply emarginated; lower lobes well-developed, prominent and about 2.5 times as broad as upper lobes, the linkage between them as wide as the upper lobe. Genae short, acute and divergent. Mandibles triangular, arcuate, acute. Apical segments of maxillary and labial palpi cylindrical, attenuate at base and apex, as long as the preceding two combined. Mentum trapezoidal. Antennae 11-segmented, filiform, unarmed, as long as body in female.

Prothorax 1.5 times broader than long (including tubercles), narrower at anterior margin, posterior margin sinuous; sides with a moderately prominent, acute tubercle behind middle and a sublateral tubercle between tubercle and anterior margin. Pronotum with two antemedian acute

tubercles and vaguely, longitudinally carinate at middle. Intercoxal process of prosternum about 1/3 as wide as procoxa, subparallel at sides, truncate at apex. Anterior coxal cavities rounded, not angulate at sides, open behind. Mesosternum depressed at middle. Intercoxal process of mesosternum as wide as mesocoxa, with lateral projections which fit into notches on coxae, and medially notched at apex to fit metasternum. Intermediate coxal cavities open to epimera. Metepisternum narrow; distal 1/4 with a glandular pore in form of a marginate, oval depression clothed with recumbent, centrally laid pubescence. Scutellum small, subtriangular.

Elytra convex, parallel-sided, about 3 times as long as the width across humeri, wider than prothorax at base; each elytron with three rounded, well-defined eburneous callosities; apex bispinose, the sutural spine shorter. Humeri rounded and somewhat projecting anteriorly.

Legs short; hind legs about 1.5 times as long as forelegs. Procoxae and mesocoxae rounded. Femora linear. Meso- and metafemora each with a moderately short spine at inner apex; outer apex acute. Metafemora reaching posterior margin of third urosternite. Tibiae cylindrical, not carinate; tibial spurs short, slender, subequal. Tarsi short; first segment of metatarsi shorter than the following two combined; tarsal pads lacking median glabrous vitta.

Fifth urosternite strongly transverse. Apical 2/3 of eighth urosternite in female with a brush formed by long-petiolate, conchoidal, spatulate and aciculate setae, arranged in several rows.

Remarks. Timbaraba View in CoL is similar to Coccoderus Buquet, 1840 View in CoL , Bothriospila Aurivillius, 1923 View in CoL and Taygayba Martins and Galileo, 1998 View in CoL by the eburneous callosities on elytra. It differs from Coccoderus View in CoL by the trapezoidal mentum, moderately long palpi, triangular mandibles, 11-segmented antennae, pronotum with two antemedian acute tubercles, anterior coxal cavities not angulate at sides and prothorax with an acute tubercle on each side behind middle. In Coccoderus View in CoL , the mentum is transverse, the palpi elongate, the mandibles strongly depressed near base and bidentate; the lateral tubercles of the prothorax and those of pronotum are not acute and the anterior cavities are angulate at sides. Timbaraba View in CoL differs from Bothriospila View in CoL by the rounded, well-defined eburneous callosities of the elytra and the moderately short spine at the inner apex of the meso- and metafemora. In Bothriospila View in CoL the eburneous callosities are irregular and the inner apical spines of the meso- and metafemora are well developed. Timbaraba View in CoL differs from Taygayba View in CoL by the tuberculate prothorax and the bispinose elytra at apex. In Taygayba View in CoL , the prothorax is not tuberculate and the elytra are unarmed apically.

Etymology. Timbaraba View in CoL is an indigenous word, from Tupi, meaning sprinkle of white, in reference to the eburneous callosities on the elytra.
