Xyleborus festivus Eichhoff View in CoL

Xyleborus festivus Eichhoff, 1876: 202 View in CoL .

Xyleborus detectus Schedl, 1975a: 458 View in CoL . syn. n.

Xyleborus pinicola Eggers, 1930: 206 View in CoL . syn. n.

Xyleborus pinivorus Browne, 1980: 374 View in CoL . syn. n.

Taxonomy: Wood and Bright (1992: 739) list syntypes of this species deposited in IRSNB. However, Eichhoff’s description includes only a single measurement suggesting the existence of only one type specimen. The holotype is housed in UHZM which sent photographs of the specimen. These were compared to images and paratypes of X. pinicola View in CoL , the holotype of X. detectus View in CoL (NHMW) and specimens in RAB that were compared to the holotype of X. pinivorus View in CoL (NHML) and which had previously been synonymized with X. pinicola ( Beaver and Liu, 2010: 32) View in CoL . All are conspecific and represent a single species.
