Petronia albigularis C.L. Brehm
Petronia albigularis C.L. Brehm, 1856: 377 (Sennaar) .
Now Gymnoris dentata dentata (Sundevall, 1850) View in CoL . See Hartert, 1918a: 14; Moreau and Greenway, 1962: 26; Dickinson, 2003: 718; Fry and Keith, 2004: 42–43; and Summers-Smith, 2009: 810.
LECTOTYPE: AMNH 456579 About AMNH , adult male, collected at Sennar (= Sennaar), 13.31N, 33.38E (Times Atlas), on the Blue Nile, Sudan, on 22 September 1850, by Alfred E. Brehm. From the Brehm Collection via the Rothschild Collection. GoogleMaps
COMMENTS: Brehm did not enumerate his specimens of this form in the original description. Two specimens came to AMNH with the Rothschild Collection. A male and a female specimen of albigularis were collected on the same day at Sennar. Hartert (1918a: 14), by listing the male as the type, designated it the lectotype. The female, AMNH 456580, is a paralectotype.
This species is often included in the genus Petronia . Most recent authors consider the species dentata monotypic, but Summers- Smith (2009: 810) recognized two subspecies.
