Romanophora View in CoL gen. n.

Type species: Anthaxia verecunda Erichson, 1834: 229 (by present designation).

As explained above, after removing this species from Cylindrophora Solier, 1849 a new genus name was needed for this species. I propose the name Romanophora gen. n. (feminine) to appreciate the effort of Roman Holyñski to solve the whole situation around the genus and to stress the relations with the genus Cylindrophora .

As already published by Cobos (1956) and Holyñski (1989), the species (and the whole genus) differs fom Cylindrophora and Ctenoderus by: very finely punctate elytra, deeply and densely punctate pronotum, anal sternite unmodified and medial lobe of aedeagus simply pointed. Moreover, antennomeres 4–11 are wider than long, the male pro and mesofemora lack the dense brushes of pale setae typical for Cylindrophora and Ctenoderus , the prosternal process is simply punctured and the elytra lack the transverse basal depressions which are welldeveloped in all other genera of Curina.

Distribution of Romanophora verecunda : Argentina, Chile.

The next formal changes concern the Neotropical Anthaxiina. Having followed Cobos‘ broad concept of Anthaxia (see Cobos 1956, 1958, 1971, 1975), I included into the genus ( Bílý 1997) the subgenera Agrilaxia Kerremans, 1903 , Cylindrophora Solier, 1849 (erroneously dated 1833), Paracuris Obenberger, 1923 and Bilyaxia Holyñski, 1989 . Some of them have been already elevated to genera: Agrilaxia by Bílý & Bellamy (1999), Paracuris by Bílý (2000) and Cylindrophora also by Bílý (2000) but erroneously attributed to Anthaxiina. The remaining neotropical subgenus of Anthaxia (Bilyaxia) must be also elevated to genus on the basis of the characters given by Cobos (1956) for Cylindrophora (all 18 species included by Cobos in Cylindrophora are now transfered into Bilyaxia of Anthaxiini , except for Romanophora verecunda , Cylindrophora maulica , Ctenoderus chloris and C. oyarcei ).
