Setae long, thick, thorn-like, serrate, sharp-tipped, except j1 and J5, serrate or smooth; seta R1 inserted on membrane.

Venter. Sternal shield smooth; posterior margin indistinct; distances between ST1-ST3 61(56–68), ST2- ST2 52(51–53). Genital shield smooth; distance between ST5-ST5 56(53–59). Ventrianal shield smooth, pentagonal, slightly constricted laterally at level of preanal pores, anterior margin straight, 101(96–107) long, 60(54–64) wide at level of ZV2, 57(53–59) wide at level of anus; setae JV2 and JV3 present; round preanal pores mesad of and slightly posterior to JV2. Caudoventral setae smooth and sharp-tipped, except JV5, serrate.

Chelicera. Movable digit 19 long, with 1 tooth; fixed digit 23 long, with 4 teeth and a pilus dentilis.

Spermatheca. Calyx funnel-shaped, 11 long; atrium nodular, wider than portion of calyx next to it.

Specimens examined. Two females, Benin: Koko-Bantè, Département du Zou, on unknown plant, 18- XI-1989, J.S. Yaninek; Covèdji, Département des Collines, on Manihot esculenta , 10-VII-1991, B. Eklou. Two females, Cameroon: 60 km W Tibati, Adamaoua, on unknown plant, 28-I-1991, J.S. Yaninek. Six females, Ghana: 2 km W Berekum, on Capsicum sp., 13-III-1990, K. Antwi; 1 km S Wenchi, on unknown plant, 14-III-1990, B. Haruna and K. Antwi; 3 km N Gamasi, Ashanti Region, on unknown plant, 19-III-1990, B. Haruna and K. Antwi. All deposited at ESALQ-USP.

Remarks. The smallest specimen examined was collected in Benin; congruently, it had the shortest dorsal setae and the shortest macroseta. The dorsal idiosomal setae of all specimens examined had all setae serrate or lightly serrate (J5), except the specimens from Cameroon and 1 of the specimens from Ghana, which had j1 and J5 smooth and S5 lightly serrate or smooth. Seta J5 is indicated as smooth in the original description of this species.

World distribution. Benin, Cameroon, Ghana and Nigeria.
