Material examined. None.

Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Gulf of Mexico), Cuba, and Brazil (Pará, Maranhão, Espírito Santo, São Paulo) ( Barreto et al. 1993; Melo 1996; Bertini et al. 2004; Felder et al. 2009).

Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo include Ubatuba (Bertini et al. 2004, 2010). Specimens are found in waters from 20 to 70m ( Melo 1996) being rare in sampling.
