( Figure 16B View FIGURE 16 )
Pilumnus reticulatus Stimpson, 1860: 214 View in CoL
Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 5 ♂, 8 ♀ (4 ♀ ov), 2 j, CCDB 5391 View Materials , Ubatuba, coll. D. Rosa, 5–14.ix.2011 ; 3 ♂, 5 ♀ (3 ♀ ov), 3 j, CCDB 4323 View Materials , Ubatuba, colls. F. Mantelatto et al., 16.x.2012 .
Distribution. Western Atlantic—Caribbean Sea, Antilles, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Maranhão, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul), Uruguay, and Argentina (Milne Edwards 1880; Boschi 1964; Coelho & Ramos 1972; Gomez-Corrêa 1972; Rodríguez 1980; Lemaitre 1981; Melo et al. 1989; Mantelatto et al. 2000; Almeida et al. 2007 b, 2010; Coelho et al. 2008; Melo 2008; Spivak et al. 2019; Magalhães & Mantelatto in prep.).
Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo include Ubatuba ( Mantelatto & Fransozo 2000; Bertini et al. 2004; Alves et al. 2012b; 2013b) and Ilha Vitória ( Alves et al. 2012a). Pilumnus reticulatus has two distinct forms, the fragosa and the tesselata. Both forms occur in Brazil ( Rathbun 1930; Magalhães & Mantelatto in prep.), what may have generated the idea of continuous occurrence in Brazil considering as single species cited in most references, but this species distribution must be viewed with caution. Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 3617—16S ( MF504065 View Materials ), COI ( MF504142 View Materials ) ( Mantelatto et al. 2018a).
