( Figure 3A View FIGURE 3 )
Cancer erythropus Edwards, in Catesby, 1771: 37 , pl. 37.
Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 1 ♀, CCDB 3963 View Materials , Ubatuba, Ilha das Palmas , coll. D. Rosa, iv.2012 ; 1 ♀, CCDB 4894 View Materials , Ubatuba, Enseada de Ubatuba , coll. D. Rosa, 18.x.2012 .
Distribution. WesternAtlantic—Bermuda, USA (North Carolina, Florida), Bahamas, Gulf of Mexico, Honduras, Antilles, Colombia, and Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, Maranhão, Ceará, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina). Central Atlantic—Ascencion and Saint Helena Islands ( Verril 1908; Rathbun 1937; Fausto-Filho 1966; Coelho & Ramos 1972; Forest 1974; Powers 1977; Lemaitre 1981; Keith 1985; Abele & Kim 1986; Manning & Chace 1990; Melo & Campos Jr. 1999; Viana et al. 2003; Almeida & Coelho 2008; Coelho et al. 2008; Felder et al. 2009).
Remarks. Previous records on the coast of São Paulo state include Ilhabela (Ilha de São Sebastião) ( Rathbun 1937), Santos (Melo & Campos Jr. 1999) and Ubatuba (Bertini et al. 2004, 2010; Melo & Campos Jr. 1999; Alves et al. 2012a, b). Garcia Bento et al. (2018, 2019) described the spermatozoa ultrastructure and the male reproductive system in a phylogenetic context based on specimens collected near Ilha das Palmas (14m), Ubatuba, São Paulo. Dromia gouveai described by Melo & Campos Jr. (1999) from Santos, was considered junior synonym of D. erytropus (WoRMS 2020) . Sequences accession number (GenBank): CCDB 3963—16S ( MF490178 View Materials ), COI ( MF490082 View Materials ) ( Mantelatto et al. 2018a).
