Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Central America,Antilles, Guianas, and Brazil (Pará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Sergipe, São Paulo) ( Williams 1965, 1984; Powers 1977; Soto 1985; Abele & Kim 1986; Melo & Veloso 2005; Felder et al. 2009; Alves et al. 2012a, b; Mendonça et al. 2019).

Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include Ilha Vitória ( Alves et al. 2012a, b).
