Figure 1 View FIGURE 1

Description. Male. Fastigium verticis about 1.6 times as broad as scape, apex obtusely rounded ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A). Pronotum subsellate, anterior margin slightly projecting, posterior margin truncate; lateral lobes longer than high, rectangular ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B–C). External margin of fore coxae with 1 small spine; fore femora unarmed on ventral surface; fore tibiae with 5 pairs of spines on ventral surface. Middle femora unarmed on ventral surface; middle tibiae with 5 pairs of spines on ventral surface, dorsal surface of middle tibiae with 1 internal apical spine. Hind femora with 6–8 internal spines and 7–8 external spines on ventral surface; hind tibiae with 5–6 internal spines and 6 external spines on dorsal surface, 1 pair of dorsal apical spines, 2 pairs of ventral apical spines, and 1 pair of ventral subapical spines.

Ninth abdominal tergite with 1 deep concavity in the middle, lateral margins with 1 pair of processes, their length slightly shorter than cerci, curved ventrad, apices acute. Tenth abdominal tergite narrow, centre of posterior margin with 1 inflated process, with a median longitudinal furrow on dorsal surface; apex of the process forficate, forming 2 rather short apical spines, curved forward and slightly outward ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D–E). Subgenital plate rectangular, broader than long, centre of basal area with 1 obdeltoid invagination; posterior margin projecting with an acute-triangular concavity in the middle, the lateral lobes triangular, with apices obtuse (Fig. 3F). Styli robust located on both sides of posterior margin of subgenital plate.

Coloration. Body yellowish brown. Eyes blackish brown, with black stripes below eyes ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A). Fastigium verticis with black spots; occiput black, with 1 semicircular conspicuous yellow stripe. Disc of pronotum black, with a yellowish brown spot on both sides ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B–C). Fore and middle tibiae with spines blackish brown, their apices yellowish, and apical spines yellowish brown. Hind femora and tibiae with black spines, apical spines of hind tibiae yellowish brown, their apices blackish brown. Apices of processes on ninth abdominal tergite brown; apices of apical spines of tenth abdominal tergite blackish brown ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D–E).

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. China (Hainan).

Material examined. Holotype: male, Bawangling, Changjiang , Hainan, 5 June, 2008, collected by Yibin Ba and Juntong Lang.

Measurements (mm). BL: 3 22.0; PL: 3 6.0; HF: 3 14.0; TL: 3 30.0.

Discussion. The new species is similar to Diaphanogryllacris annamita (Griffini, 1909) , but differs from the latter in: the process of male tenth abdominal tergite significantly inflated, its apical spines rather short, curved forward and slightly outward ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D–E).

Etymology. The name of the new species is derived from the morphology of process of male tenth abdominal tergite.
