Habit and habitat:—Usually gregarious on decaying fallen leaves in mixed broadleaf-conifer forests.
Distribution:— CHINA: Hunan and Yunnan province at elevations ranging from 115 (Hunan) − 1700 m (Yunnan).
Comments:— Spodocybe umbilicata is distinguished by its small basidiomata (pileus 1−3 cm diam.), greyish brown finely felty pileus; large and cylindrical basidiospores (6–9 × 3–4.5 μm, Q =1.64–2.21, Q m = 1.90 ± 0.18), 4-spored basidia, and growing in mixed broadleaf-conifer forests. This taxon is known to occur in central and southwestern China ( Xiao et al. 2023).
