Description. Length. Male 5.7 mm.
Coloration. Pale brown. Head ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A) with numerous pale and dark brown spots; facial calli pale; anteclypeus dark brown. Pronotum ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 A – B) with numerous dark brown and pale brown spots. Scutellum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 A) darker than pronotum with pale brown basal triangles. Forewing ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B) brown with oblique fenestra across midlength hyaline, spot in each subapical cells hyaline, venation dark brown with white spots. Legs brown, apices of femora, last tarsomeres ochraceous.
Morphology. Body stout. Face ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A), slightly convex in lateral view. Eyes slightly prominent. Hind tibial spinulation R1 15, R2 9, R3 5.
Male genitalia. Pygophore ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A) triangular, in lateral view, caudal margin serrate dorsally and with teeth subdorsally. Subgenital plate ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 A) narrow and long with marginal setae. Style and connective similar to those in Pedionis garuda (Distant) . Aedeagus ( Figs. 4 View FIGURE 4 C, D) broader basally and then narrowed, sinuately curved near apical 0.27, apex with lateral flanges, shaft produced into pointed structure at apex beyond gonopore; preatrium well developed; dorsal connective elaborate, distal arm more or less of uniform width, bent near base and also near apex ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 C), margins smooth except minutely serrated mesal margin near apex,.
Female. Unkown.
Distribution. China: Guizhou (Xishui).
Material examined. Holotype: male, China, Guizhou province: Xishui county (28°20΄N, 105°29΄E), 28 May 2000, collected by Li Z.Z.
Remarks. Pedionis lii , can be easily identified by the serrated caudal margin of the pygophore.
Etymology. This species is named in honour of Professor Z.Z. Li, who kindly provided access to the specimens.
