Stenorhynchus seticornis was first reported for Barbados by Schomburgk (1848: 655) as Leptopodia sagittaria ( Fabricius, 1793) , who deposited the specimens of Stenorhynchus seticornis collected in Barbados to the NHM. Additionally, Rathbun (1921: 80) reported two male specimens of Stenorhynchus sagittarius collected in Barbados at depths of 36–169 m (20–94 fathoms) by the Barbados-Antigua Expedition in 1918 (USNM 58047; USNM 73401).
