Genus Haplorhynchites Voss View in CoL
Type species. Rhynchites aeneus Boheman, 1829 View in CoL , subsequent designation by Hamilton (1974).
Haplorhynchites View in CoL was once a subgenus of Rhynchites View in CoL until Hamilton (1974) revised the group and elevated it to the generic level.
Generic diagnosis. Haplorhynchites View in CoL can be recognized by the absence of the scutellary striole, by the pygidium that is exposed beyond the elytra, by the distinctly rowed elytral striae (except in Haplorhynchites aeneus View in CoL ) and by the distinct elytral interstriae with punctures that are more-or-less smaller than those of the striae.
