Material examined. Iran: West Azarbaijan province, Myandoab, 1♀, 6 August 2010 (new record).
Distribution outside Iran. Widely distributed in the Palaearctic Region and Mongolia ( Papp 2004c). Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Mongolia, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ukraine and former Yugoslavia ( Yu et al. 2012), Czech Republic ( Lozan et al. 2010; Yu et al. 2012), Hungary ( Papp 2006, 2008; Yu et al. 2012), Korea ( Papp 2007b; Yu et al. 2012), Russia ( Lelej 2012 as Coelinius elegans ; Yu et al. 2012), Serbia ( Papp 2009a; Yu et al. 2012), Spain ( Pascual 2010), United Kingdom ( Curtis 1829 as Chaenon elegans , Ch. berevicornis , C. cingulata , C. rufinotata , C. similes ; Marshall 1899 as Coelinius elegans ; Broad et al. 2012; Yu et al. 2012), Turkey ( Beyarslan and Inanç 2001; Yu et al. 2012).
Host records. Lipara lucens Meigen, 1830 ( Diptera : Chloropidae ) ( Yu et al. 2012) and Chlorops sp. ( Beyarslan and Inanç 2001).
