Synonymy follows Nuss et al. (2003 –2018):

= Pyralis proximalis Walker, 1862  .

Distribution: Cosmopolitan. In Africa: DR Congo, Madagascar, Réunion, United Arab Emirates, Yemen ( De Prins & De Prins 2018) and Mali (new record). Also in Oriental: India, Malaysia [ Sarawak], Sri Lanka; Palaearctic: Netherlands, United Kingdom [introduced] ( De Prins & De Prins 2018).

Host-plants: Decaying vegetable matter. Pest of stored food plants ( Wikipedia 2018).
