Types. Male holotype from Cueva 4 (at night), Punta del Este (21°33'50.9"N 82°33'30.8"W), Isla de la Juventud, Cuba, 29.V.1992. O Navarro col.; female paratype from Cave 1 (21°33'48.4"N 82°33'29.3"W), same locality as holotype, 28.V.1992, O. Navarro & M. Estrada col., both deposited in MNHNCu. Paratype: 1 female from Cueva 4, Punta del Este (21°33'50.9"N 82°33'30.8"W), Isla de La Juventud, Cuba, 29.V.1992. O. Navarro & M. Estrada col., deposited in IBSP 166721.

Other material examined. CUBA. Pinar del Río: Isla de la Juventud, Punta del Este, Cueva 1 (21°33'48.4"N 82°33'29.3"W), 2♀, 28.V.1992, O. Navarro & M. Estrada col. ( IBSP 166722).

Etymology. The name of the species is dedicated to the indigenous culture of the Ciboney-Guayabo Blanco groups that lived in this caves.

Diagnosis. Antilloides mesoliticus n. sp. differs from other species by the short and greatly thickened tibia of the male palp ( Figs 17C‒D View FIGURE 17 A ‒ E , 21A‒B View FIGURE 21 A ‒ F. A ‒ C ). The females are distinguished by an indentation of the uterus externus and that it is higher than the spermathecae ( Figs 17 View FIGURE 17 A ‒ E F, 21C).

Description. Male (Holotype). Carapace, palp and legs yellow. Chelicerae orange. Labium and endites orange at tips and yellow at bases. Sternum yellow. Abdomen dorsally grayish and ventrally white (fig. 17A). Total length 2.2. Carapace length 1.1, width 0.7. PME separated by almost their diameter. Palp measurements: femur 0.55 length, patella 0.3 long, tibia 0.35 long, 0.25 wide. Leg measurements: I femur 2.1/ patella 0.5/ tibia 2.4/ metatarsus 1.7/ tarsus 1.1/ total 7.8; II 1.3/ 0.4/ 1.3/ 1.1/ 0.7/ 4.8; III 1.1/ 0.4/ 1.0/ 1.0/ 0.6/ 4.1; IV 1.6/ 0.4/ other segments missing). Palp: tibiae with two spines; embolus longer than tibial spines and sinuous at tip ( Figs 17C‒D View FIGURE 17 A ‒ E , 21A‒B View FIGURE 21 A ‒ F. A ‒ C ). Abdomen 1.2 long.

Female. (Paratype). Carapace with a black spot behind the ocular area and eyes bordered with black ( Fig. 17B View FIGURE 17 A ‒ E ). Pedipalps and legs orange. Chelicerae, labium and endites orange. Sternum yellow. Abdomen grayish dorsally with 6–7 green-gray chevrons and ventrally white. Total length 3.7. Carapace length 1.7, width 1.2. PME separated by half their diameter. Palp measurements: femur 1.0 long, patella 0.6 long. Leg measurements: I femur 2.3/ patella 0.7/ other segments missing in all females; II 1.8/ 0.6/ 1.6/ 1.3/ 0.9/ 6.2; III 1.5/ 0.5/ 1.2/ 1.2/ 1.2/ 0.7; IV 2.1/ 0.5/ 2.0/ 1.7/ 1.0/ 7.3. Abdomen 2.3 long. Internal genitalia with uterus externus higher than spermathecae; spermathecae oval, with short necks ( Figs 17E View FIGURE 17 A ‒ E , 21C View FIGURE 21 A ‒ F. A ‒ C ).

Natural history. All specimens were collected by hand on the walls of caves at night or in the twilight.

Distribution. Known only from Cuba ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 D).
