Type material. Male holotype from Ecuador, Cotopaxi Province, Otonga Biological Reserve (00.42261ºS 79.5107ºW) 08–21 June 2014, 2225m, sifting leaf litter, Berlese, N. Dupérré, E. Tapia & C. Tapia ( QCAZ). Female paratype, Ecuador, Cotopaxi Province, Otonga Biological Reserve, 08–21 June 2014, 2225m, sifting moss, N. Dupérré, E. Tapia & C. Tapia ( QCAZ).

Etymology. The specific epithet is a noun in apposition (invariable) taken from the Kichwa language, referring to the planet Neptune, in relation to the blue colour of the spider.

Diagnosis. Males and females are distinguished by the presence of granulation on the surface of the carapace along radiating lines and midline ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Males are further distinguished by their very long and sinuous embolus ( Figs 2, 3 View FIGURES 2 – 5 , 7, 8 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ) and the presence of a pars stridulens on the anterioventral surface of abdomen ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). Females are distinguished by the bulbous end of the spermathecae ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ).

Description. Male. Total length: 0.74; carapace length: 0.32; carapace width: 0.27.

PROSOMA: Carapace pyriform, narrowing gradually anteriorly, with triangular projection posteriorly; shiny, light orange with rows of granulation along radiating lines and midline; pars cephalica slightly elevated; fovea not visible ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 , 6 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). Sternum light yellow, as long as wide, excavated at the base of labium; covered by long setae. Endites light yellow longer than wide; labium light yellow, trapezoidal. Clypeus vertical, height 8x PME. Chelicerae light yellow, elongate and excavated; promargin with a series of 3 denticles; retromargin with 4 denticles; fangs elongate ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ).

EYES: Six round eyes surrounded by black pigmentation; AME absent, PME touching; PME-LE separated by half their diameter, ALE-PLE touching ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 , 6 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). OPISTHOSOMA: Pear-shaped; uniformly blue ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 , 6 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ) with long black setae; with ~25 anteroventral ridges on the pars stridens ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ); colulus pentagonal ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). LEGS: Light yellow; leg formula 1243; legs total length: I: 1.54; II: 1.36; III 0.97; IV: 1.30; leg article length (femur/patella/tibia/metatarsus/ tarsus): leg I 0.47/0.10/0.44/0.26/0.27; leg II 0.46/0.10/0.36/0.22/0.22; leg III 0.29/0.09/0.22/0.18/0.19; leg IV 0.41/0.11/ 0.29/0.21/0.21. Legs I-IV with 1 macroseta on each patella and tibia ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Coxae IV with plectrum composed of two pegs, positioned retrolaterally ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). GENITALIA: Palpal femur long; palpal tibia slightly shorter than cymbium, with one dorsal trichobothrium ( Figs 2, 3 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ). Cymbium thin and elongate ( Figs 2, 3 View FIGURES 2 – 5 , 7, 8 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). Bulb bell-shaped ( Figs 2, 3 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ). Embolus long and sinuous, originating prolaterally ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ). Sperm duct very long making several loops ( Figs 2, 3 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ).

Female. Total length: 0.76; carapace length: 0.31; carapace width: 0.28. PROSOMA: As in male; but without triangular projection posteriorly. Sternum, endites and labium: As in male. Clypeus vertical; high (6x PME). Chelicerae light yellow, not elongate nor excavated; promargin with 3 denticles; retromargin with 4 denticles; fangs normal. EYES: As in male. OPISTHOSOMA: Globular; uniformly blue with long black setae. LEGS: As in male; leg formula 1423; legs total length: I: 1.50; II: 1.30; III 1.01; IV: 1.32. leg article length (femur/patella/tibia/metatarsus/tarsus): leg I 0.44/0.11/ 0.42/0.26/0.27; leg II 0.38/0.11/0.35/0.22/0.24; leg III 0.29/0.10/0.24/0.17/0.21; leg IV 0.41/0.11/0.31/0.23/0.26. Female palp without short, stout tapered macrosetae ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 6 – 11 ). GENITALIA: Internal genitalia with long tube-shaped spermathecae and a rounded sac apically ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 5 ).

Natural history. Both specimens were collected in the cloud forest at an altitude of 2225m, in moss or leaf litter samples.
