Diagnosis. Antenna (Fig. 41) at least 23-segmented. Pronotum ( Figs. 60 View FIGURE 60 –78) expanded anterior, posterior and laterally, posterior margins bisinuate; with setigerous punctures of two sizes: small, shallow and regular ones in the disc (intertidal spaces between 0.5– 2x the diameter of the puncture); and large, deep and irregular at pronotal expansions (intertidal spaces smaller than diameter of puncture). Mesosternum/mesanepisternum; and mesanepisternum/mesepimeron sutures distinct. Metacoxa (Fig. 102) with rows of bristles, setae almost twice as long as the lesser length of the metacoxa. Tibia irregularly setose, spurs absent. Abdominal sterna VI and VII with lanterns ( Figs. 107–124 View FIGURES 107 – 115 View FIGURES 116 – 124 ). Pygidium ( Figs. 125–142 View FIGURES 125 – 133 View FIGURES 134 – 142 ) trilobate.

Redescription. Colouration. (Fig.1–18; 220) Integument from entirely brown to yellowish-brown. Prothorax with pale-brown to yellowish-brown or pale yellow expansions. Elytron from black with margin and suture pale yellow to entirely dark-brown or yellowish-brown, black apex; either with or without yellowish-brown vittae.

Head. ( Figs. 19 View FIGURES 19 – 22 –59, 221) Transverse, almost three times wider than long. Fronto-clypeus discrete or strongly depressed, sometimes with carinae discreet and convergent posteriorly; antennal sockets oblong, obliquely inserted on frons, sometimes projected, width between antennal sockets from 1/3 to almost as wide as frontoclypeal width. Vertex deeply depressed. Cephalic integument with setigerous punctures greater than ommatidial facet, except for glabrous areas on antennal calli. Cephalic bristles longer than pronotal ones. Occiput with two parasagittal indentations dorsally. Antenna densely bristled, flagellum more deeply bristled than scape and pedicel; with at least 23 antennomeres, of decreasing length toward apex; scape constricted basally, pedicel length equal or smaller than antennomere III length; flagellar antennomeres flabellate; antennomere III with flabellum inserted medially or distally; flabellae inserted gradually more distally toward apex, increasing in length up to half of flagellum length, then decreasing in length toward apex. Eyes globose, 1/6–1/4 head width in dorsal view; dorsal and lateral margins slightly sinuous, ventral margin curved, posterior margin obliquely truncated; anterior eye margin covered in lateral view (cf. Ledocas Olivier and Dodacles Olivier ; Amydetinae ); eyes dorsally separeted 3x dorsal eye width, ventrally 1– 2 x ventral eye width. (cf. Magnoculus ; and Memoan Silveira and Mermudes, 2013 ). Gula distinct, gular sutures concentric, apart from each other 1/2 or equal to palpomere IV width; with two discrete gular pits. Clypeolabral suture distinct. Labrum connate or connected by a membrane to fronto-clypeus; transverse, straight, emarginated or strongly bilobate, lobes rounded or acute, with bristles 3– 4 x longer than labrum; with a membranous, triangular and planar projection anteriorly; Mandibles falcate, bristled up to basal 1/5. Maxillary palp four-segmented; palpomere IV> II> I> III or IV = III> II> I; palpomere I projected on internal margin; III of variable length relations to IV; IV membranous on internal margin on distal half. Lacinia bristled on internal margin. Labial palp three-segmented, palpomere I as long as II, III longer than I and II together.

Thorax. ( Figs. 60–106 View FIGURE 60 View FIGURES 79 – 96 View FIGURES 97 – 100 View FIGURES 101 View FIGURES 104 – 106 , 222–223 View FIGURES 220 – 223 ) Pronotum expanded all over, anterior margins rounded, sinuous or projected, lateral margins divergent posteriad; with posterior angle obtuse or variably acute, bent or not; disc with a sagittal line in a median depression; with variable relations of length and width, always wider than long, from almost as long as wide to 1.5x wider than long. Pronotum with two distinct forms setigerous punctures: small, shallow and regular at the disc, apart from each other 0.5– 2x the diameter of a puncture; and large, deep, and irregular at the pronotal expansions, interstices smaller than puncture diameter. Hypomeron 1.5– 2x longer than wide. Scutellum longer than wide, with deep and irregular setigerous punctures; subparalell or with lateral margins convergent posteriad. Elytron slightly dehiscent or with lateral margins subparalell, lateral margin slightly constricted medially; with punctures fine and irregular, but deep at elytral margin and suture, with five costa variably conspicuous; marginal costa sometimes projected on anterior margin. Alinotum1 as long as wide, metascutellum with a wisp of sparse bristles medially, lateral margins subparallel, posterior margins straight, spiraculum of abdominal tergite I emarginate, horizontally in apposition to metapostnotum (Fig. 103). Hind wing membranous, radial cell poorly developed, evanescent posteriorly, MP3 with proximal part evanescent, CuP fused to AA3+1. Prosternum bristled anteriad, projected posteriad. Proendoesternum1 with two processes, bent posteriad. Suture between mesosternum and mesanepisternum, and between mesanepisternum and mesepimerum distinct. Mesosternum membranous anteriad; posterior margin rounded or acute. Mesendosternum with two parasagittal allate projections. Metasternum depressed by the mesocoxae, with an elevated carina medially. Metepisternum with anterior 1/5 less sclerotized, with minute and dense bristles. Metendosternum spatulate, with two lateral laminae. Pro and mesocoxa narrowing toward apex. Metacoxa with dense, long bristles, twice as long as lesser metacoxal length. Tibia discreetly narrowed at base, spurs or rows of setae absent. Tarsus five-segmented; IV short, densely bristled and bilobed, half as long as V. Tarsomeres IV <III <II <V<I. Claw symmetric, with basal and rudimentary tooth.
