Diagnosis. Brownish to black, shining, but occasionally pale-colored in parts. Body oval, 1.90–6.80 in total length. Head bearing both true-pegs (abbreviated in descriptions to “pegs”) and hair-like setae (“hairs”) on anterior submargin. Antennal segment II the shortest, less than 1/2 as long as III. Pronotum not serrate laterally. Scutellum wider than long, tapered, and peaked posteriorly. Hemelytron without setae. Evaporatoria extensive, occupying most part of mesepimeron and ostiolar plate; peritreme polished, extended laterad, rounded and recurved apically, and with long median furrow. 3: Phallus with weakly sclerotized theca and coiled endophallic duct. Paramere more or less falcate. Ƥ: Spermathecal duct long, sometimes coiled, without dilation.

This genus is similar to Centrostephus Horváth and Parachilocoris Horváth, because of the sharing of some significant characters, such as the relatively small body size, the shortened antennal segment II, the extensive evaporatoria, and the polished and transversely elongate peritreme. However, Chilocoris has been separated from Centrostephus by the absence of serration along the lateral margins of pronotum, and separated from Parachilocoris by the presence of a row of true-pegs on the anterior submargin of the head ( Lis, 1994).
