Setation of tarsi: I 13 setae (ft, tc’, tc”, p’, p”, a’, a”, it’, it”, u’, u”, vs’, vs”) and solenidion ω 1; II 8 setae (tc’, p’, p”, it’, it”, u’, u”, vs’) and ω 1; III and IV with 8 setae each (tc’, p’, p”, it’, it”, u’, u”, vs’). Setae tc’, tc”, a’, a” of leg I represented by eupathidia, p’ and p” fan-like. Setae tc’ of legs II–IV and setae it’, it”, u’, u” of legs I–IV smooth, setae vs’, and vs” slightly serrated.

MALE. Unknown.

DEUTONYMPH (2 paratypes, Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). Gnathosoma as in female. Cheliceral base and shaft 75 long. Fixed cheliceral digit 20 long with spinous process. Movable cheliceral digit with basal spur. Free lateral part of peritremal branch about 20 long. Idiosoma 250–360 long and 500–555 wide. Dorsum ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A). Anterior part of idiosoma with 14–18 pairs of serrated setae, 15–25 long, arranged in 2 groups: mesial group consisting of 10–12 setae, lateral group consisting of 4–6 setae. Two pairs of fine-pointed slightly serrated setae situated posterior to these groups, 20–30 long, present. Medial part of idiosoma with 4 pairs of dorso-median setae: dm1–dm2 filiform, 25–45 long; dm3–dm4 paddle–shaped with minute spicules on apical part, 50–65 long. Postero-lateral part of idiosoma with 9 pairs of setae of 3 types: 2 pairs of serrated setae, 35–45 long, 2 pairs of paddle-shaped setae with minute spicules on apical part, 70–85 long and 5 pairs of apically expanded or tapered setae, 100–130 long. Type material. Female holotype, 12 female, 2 deutonymph, and 1 protonymph paratypes from Pseudotrapelus aqabensis Melnikov et al. ( CAS 149449), SAUDI ARABIA: Mecca, 21º22’N, 39º37’E, 17 April 1979, coll. J. Gasperetti and S. Collenette; 1 female paratype from same host ( CAS 149450) and location, 17 April 1979, coll. D. J. Gasperetti and S. Collenette.

Type deposition. Holotype, 6 female, 1 deutonymph and 1 protonymph paratypes in ZISP, 6 female and 1 deutonymph paratypes in AMU (AMU–PTE10.1).

Etymology. The name aqabensis refers to the species name of the host.

Differential diagnosis. This new species is similar to P. dhofarensis sp. nov. In females of both these species the arrangement of the dorsal setae and setation of genua II–III and tarsi, tibiae, femora, trochanters I–IV are the same, the antero-dorsal setae are slightly serrated, the eyes are present, the genital series is represented by four pairs of setae g, setae ps1 are smooth or slightly serrated. This new species differs from P. dhofarensis by the following features: subcapitular setae n are present, palp setae dG and dF are subequal in the length, there are 14– 21 pairs of the antero-dorsal setae, four pairs of the dorso-median setae dm and five or six pairs of the posterolateral setae and the setae are 60–70 long, setae vm3 are slightly serrated, setae vGI and vGIV are present, the pseudoanal setal series is represented by seven pairs of setae ps. In females of P. dhofarensi , subcapitulular setae n are absent, palp setae dG are longer than dF, there are 22–30 pairs of the antero-dorsal setae and three pairs of dorso-median setae dm, two pairs of the postero-lateral setae 30–40 long are present, setae vGI and vGIV are absent, the pseudoanal setal series is represented by six pairs of setae ps.
