Key to Micropezidae View in CoL View at ENA of Mauritius

1. Katepisternum with vertical row of at least 10 setae along posterior margin ( Fig. 1H View FIGURE 1 ). Surstylus absent. Wing membrane either dark with circular clear maculae over crossveins or mostly hyaline with transverse discal band........................ 2

- Katepisternum with 2–3 large posterodorsal setae and a few lower setae in loose cluster, not forming a row. Surstylus present ( Fig. 1D View FIGURE 1 ). Wing membrane almost entirely dark except for narrow transverse clear discal band (sometimes reduced or broken) ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 )......................................................... Paraeurybata taeniata (Macquart) View in CoL , n. comb.

2. Wing membrane dark with circular, clear maculae over crossveins ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ).................................................. Courtoisia apicalis (Macquart) (rare, possibly extinct; known from Réunion and one specimen from Mauritius)

- Wing membrane mostly clear with transverse discal band ( Fig. 1G View FIGURE 1 )............................................................................ Mimegralla splendens (Wiedemann) View in CoL (coastal Mauritius, probably introduced from India)
