Type locality. Democratic Republic of Congo, Tsingidi, 2° 24' 15.6'' S, 12° 58' 11.0'' E

Type material. Holotype ♂: REPUBLIC OF CONGO: “ DRC [sic!, typographic error, in reality not DRC = Democratic Republic of Congo but Republic of Congo]: Tsingidi, 2.24. 15.6 S, [= 2° 24' 15.6'' S], 12.58. 11.0 E [= 12° 58' 11.0'' E], November 2013, leg. L. J. Niemand”, “ Holotypus Thyreocephalus tsingidianus sp. nov., Janák & Bordoni det. 2015” ( TMSA).

Description. Body length 17 mm; length from anterior margin of head to posterior margin of elytra: 11 mm. Body black; metasternum and abdomen reddish brown with the first 4 visible tergites (3–6) blackish brown; tergites 7, 8 and genital segment yellowish; paratergites and sternites yellowish. Head and pronotum and related punctation as in Fig. 30 View FIGURES 30 – 34 ; labrum as in Fig. 31 View FIGURES 30 – 34 . Head and pronotum with extremely fine and dense micro-punctation. Elytra short, shorter and wider that pronotum, with marked humeral angles. Surface with superficial, spaced punctation, arranged in three series, one near suture, one median and one lateral. Abdomen with extremely fine and dense, transverse micro-striation and fine, sparse punctation, with yellow setae.

Male. Lateral parts of temples densely and rather rather coarsely punctured. Tergite 10 and sternite 9 of the male genital segment as in Figs. 32, 33 View FIGURES 30 – 34 . Aedeagus ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 30 – 34 ) 2.2 mm long, with narrow and very long median lobe.

Female. Unknown.

Differential diagnosis. Thyreocephalus tsingidianus sp. nov. markedly differs from the other species of the T. pilosus group in different coloration of abdomen with tergites 3–6 blackish brown, apical part of abdomen and paratergites yellow and in the very long and narrow, apically pointed median lobe of aedeagus.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the type locality.

Distribution. The species is distributed in Republic of Congo ( Fig. 29 View FIGURE 29 ).

Bionomy. The species was collected in pitfall traps baited with Chimpanzee dung ( Figs. 238, 239 View FIGURES 238 – 240. 238, 239 ).

Remarks. Left temple of the holotype is exceptionally by having only one postocular puncture.
