Report associated with sponges: Lundblad (1935) described this mite from Haiti, as a sponge-associated mite. This species was obtained and reared from encysted stages among freshwater sponges ( Ephydatia fluviatilis , Dosilia radiospiculata , Trochospongilla horrida , T. leidii , T. pennsylvanica ) from Louisiana, North America ( Vidrine et al. 1986; Vidrine 1996; Edwards & Vidrine 2013).

Remarks: This was found associated with the freshwater mussel Pyganodon grandis from the Mississippi River ( Vidrine et al. 2010).
