Head predominantly yellow; anterior margin of frons and antenna light yellow; face white; back of head with one pair of stripes radiating from foramen; ocellar spot brown; face with one pair of faded lateral stripes; gena and parafacial white and silvery tomentose. Abdomen mostly black; tergite 1, usually tergite 2, and sometimes central spot on anterior margin of tergite 3 yellow; cerci and surstylus white. Wing clouded on distal half along R 2+3 and R 4+5 (darkest along R 2+3); R 4+5 and M 1 slightly convergent distally; distance between crossveins no more than length of posterior crossvein.

Female

As described for male except as follows: “arms” of dorsal cruciate pattern not connected to central stripe; lateral stripes on face absent; epiproct yellow.

Male terminalia ( Figs. 53, 54 View FIGURES 53–58 , 61 View FIGURES 61–66 )

As described for C. pleuralis except as follows: cerci subequal in length to epandrium; surstylus straight with tip strongly tapered and with numerous minute bristles; anterior protuberance on pregonite highly reduced.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 71–77 )

Length of spermatheca 4.5 times width; distal segment hemispherical with apical depression; next most basal segment wide and ringlike; basal segment poorly sclerotized and cylindrical.
