Type:— LAOS. Khammouane prov., Boualapha distr., Nong Seng village, southern sandstone slopes of Phou Chuang ( Poujeuang ) Mt. around point 17°34’13.3”N, 105°47’57.5”E. Primary evergreen broad-leaved dry forest at elev. 700–1000 m a.s.l. Shrub or treelet 4–5 m tall. Flowers purple. Not common. 3 May 2018, L. Averyanov, K. S. Nguyen, T. Maisak, L. Xaiyavongsa & S. Keovankham AL 557 (holotype LE01049152 ! GoogleMaps ; isotype LE01049197 ! GoogleMaps ).
Etymology:—The specific epithet is derived from the prefix neo -, meaning new, and splendens , the epithet of Averyanov (2019).
Distribution:—Endemic to southeastern Indochina.
