Head black, face and anterior portion of frons and gena dark reddish brown, prementum dark reddish brown, lighter ventrally, antennae orange. Frons shiny medially anterior of postvertical bristles, orbital stripes with microtomentum reaching bases of interfrontal setae, gena mostly shiny, microtomentum in small spot below eye and ventral stripe, face shiny, small spot of microtomentum below lunule. Subvibrissal bristle about 0.5X length of vibrissa, anterior genal bristle about 0.2X length of vibrissa. About 4 pairs of interfrontal bristles.

Thorax black, sutures dark reddish brown. Anterior postsutural dorsocentral bristle about 0.4X length of posterior dorsocentral bristle.

Trochanters and mid tarsus yellow, fore and hind tarsi brown. Hind tibia with an anteroventral bristle, barely thicker but distinctly longer than surrounding setae, 3 ventroapical bristles.

Abdominal sternites 2–3 difficult to see as abdomen of holotype is shrunken, but appear to be weakly sclerotized, sternite 4 black, heavily sclerotized, covered with tomentum.

Male postabdomen: Sternite 5 with curved lateral margins, widest at basal third, posterior corners projecting slightly and bearing tufts of long setae, posterior margin emarginated forming two shallow lobes, anterior apodeme about as long as external portion, pointed, with a dorsal keel. Surstylus broad, scooped. Pregonite small, fused with postgonite. Postgonite with lobes well separated, anterior lobe rounded, posterior lobe acutely pointed. Basiphallus with short epiphallus, short, narrow preepiphallus. Distiphallus simple, with dorsally projecting, slightly recurved dorsal tube, spinose basally and striated distally ( Fig. 159 View FIGURES 155–160 ).

Female unknown.

Type material. Holotype ♂: PERU: Cuzco, Paucartambo, Buenos Aires , km 132, 2400 m, 2 Sep 1988, A. Friedberg, debu01154729 ( USNM).

Notes. This species is very similar to Antrops bellavista , and differs mainly in details of the male genitalia. The dorsal tube is striated rather than spinose at the tip, and the dorsal region of the basal sclerite of the distiphallus is smooth rather than spinose. The longer anterior postsutural dorsocentral bristle may also be useful in distinguishing the species, although it’s unclear if this difference will hold up with a longer series of this species. The species is named after Manú National Park, adjacent to the type locality; the name should be treated as a noun in apposition.
