Distribution in the Balkans. Croatia: Hrvatsko Zagorje: Klanjec: Cesargradska Mt., Vukovo Selo, Rozga ( Strasser 1965); Slovenia: Kočevje (type locality of discolor), Lower Carniolan (Dolenjska) mountains and hillside and Gorjanci Mt (Starsser 1966a).

World distribution. Not a typical Balkan species, distributed in Austria ( Voigtländer et al. 1997), North Croatia (Sleme (Attems 1929a)), Hungary ( Lazányi & Korsós 2010) Italy ( Foddai et al. 1995), Poland ( Stojałowska & Starega 1974), Romania (type locality of silvaticus: Mt. Postävarul ) ( Täbäcaru 1976), Russia ( Lokšina & Golovatch 1979), Slovakia ( Mock 2001), North Slovenia (Julian Alps ( Attems 1929a), Ukraine ( Chornyi & Golovatch 1993).

Remarks. The synonymy of M. s. silvaticum and M. s. discolor was recently discussed by Lazányi & Korsós (2010).
