Diagnosis. Recognized among species of Ommatides by both males and females being macropterous; and by males with dorsally expanded 1st labial segment lacking setae and the 4th labial segment unarmed. This is the only known species of Ommatides without labial armature.
Description. Male: macropterous with large membrane reaching tip of abdomen; total body length: 1.46 mm; body elongate ovoid. COLORATION: head, pronotum, and forewing brown; labium light to dark brown; forewing light to dark brown, with pale transverse band proximally; scutellum dark brown; legs mostly yellow with black tarsi; and genital capsule and genitalia dark brown ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). SURFACE AND VESTITURE: lobes of dorsally expanded 1st labial segment without setae; forefemur anteriorly with row of 6 small spicules and 1 anterior, long, stout seta; 2nd tarsomere of hind leg with 2 stout setae anteroventrally. STRUCTURE. HEAD: disc declivous; 1st labial segment dorsally expanded; 2nd, 3rd and 4th labial segments approximately of equal length. THORAX: ratio of pronotal collar length to pronotum length 0.20; collar depressed below rest of pronotum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ); postnotum rounded; posterolateral margin of pronotum deeply and narrowly concave; ratio of height of forefemur to length of forefemur 0.18; tarsal formula 3-3-3; ratio of length of hind tibia to width of pronotum 1.17; venation of macropterous forewing as in Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ; tc almost squared anteriorly; rc, dc, and cub long and thin; Cu straight; An1 fusing with Cu proximal to wing margin. ABDOMEN AND GENITALIA: as in genus description ( Fig. 9 A,B View FIGURE 9 ), with spiracle 8 set upon membranous tubercle of tergum 8 process and hidden below large patch of thick, dense setae ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ).
Female: macropterous with large membrane reaching tip of abdomen; total body length: 1.48 mm; body elongate ovoid. COLORATION: as in male. SURFACE AND VESTITURE: labium as in generic description; forefemur anteriorly without spicules and with a single long, stout seta; 2nd tarsomere of hind leg with 2 stout seta anteroventrally. STRUCTURE. HEAD: as in male, with 1st labial segment not expanded and unarmed. THORAX: ratio of pronotal collar length to pronotum length unknown (because of specimen orientation); collar depressed below rest of pronotum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ); postnotum rounded; posterolateral margin of pronotum deeply and narrowly concave; ratio of height to length of forefemur 0.21; tarsal formula 2-2-3; ratio of length of hind tibia to width of pronotum 1.16; venation of macropterous forewing as in male. ABDOMEN AND GENITALIA: as in genus description ( Fig. 9 C,D View FIGURE 9 ).
Etymology. From Latin nudus (adjective) meaning “smooth” or “bare”. Named for the lack of setae on the dorsally expanded 1st labial segment in the male.
Distribution. Known from two low elevation sites in Ecuador.
Macrohabitat and Collecting method: Terre firme forest and Tropical rainforest; Fogging.
