gen. nov.

Genus Burmopsylla gen. nov.

Type species: Burmopsylla maculata sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Macropterous. Antenna filiform, longer than body, flagellum with at least three segments, absence of the rupturing mechanism. Frons enlarged, postclypeus not bulbed and extended. Mouthparts probably chewing mandibulate, with mandibles slightly elongated; labial palp present, maxillary palp invisible. Forewing with brown markings; distinct pterostigma present; ScP long, fused with C for a distance and bending posteriad, fused with RA for a distance, then separating from RA distad; distal RA straight; RP with two branches; M with four branches; R, M and CuA proximally meeting at a point; AP cell present; CuP weak, close and parallel to 1A; cua-cup crossvein long, oblique, slightly sinuated; 2A present. Hindwing similar in size and venation to forewing, but without 2A. Legs with four tarsus, tarsal claws without subapical teeth, arolium present. Ovipositor strongly elongate, bladeshaped, the third ovipositor valve with a pair of setose tips.

Etymology. The generic name is after the locality ‘Burma’ of the presently described ambers and ‘-psylla’ as a common suffix for Archipsyllidae . Gender: feminine.

Remarks. The new genus belongs to the family Archipsyllidae by the forewing venation and the foursegmented tarsus. In the previous study, the Mesozoic family Archipsyllidae include five genera: Archipsylla Handlirsch, Archipsyllodes Vishniakova, Archipsyllopsis Vishniakova, Psocopsylla Özdikmen , and Mydiognathus Yoshizawa & Lienhard ( Vishniakova 1976; Rasnitsyn in Rasnitsyn & Quicke 2002; Özdikmen 2009, Yoshizawa & Lienhard 2016). The new genus differs from the other genera based on the brown-marked forewing, the obvious posterior angle of the pterostigma, and the straight distal RA. Notably, based on fore- and hindwing venations, Burmopsylla gen. nov. is more similar to Archipsylla, Archipsyllodea, Archipsyllopis and Psocopsylla rather than to Mydiognathus, e.g. ScP with three parts, and the areola postica without constriction.
