Ischnopoderona brunneipennis ( Tottenham, 1957) View in CoL , comb. n.

( Figs. 82–83 View FIGURES 82 – 83 , Map 7)

Amanota brunneipennis Tottenham, 1957: 125 View in CoL .

Type material. Holotype: ɗ: Rhodesia [ Zimbabwe], Salisbury [Harare], Mashonaland, T. opacicollis Bh. Type ( BMNH).

Redescription. Body. Length 3.0 mm, convex, parallelsided, glossy; body colour pitchy brown; abdomen black with tergites III–IV yellowishbrown, antennae black with antennomeres 1 and 9 red and 10–11 yellow, legs yellow.

Head circular in outline, convex; eyes relatively large, moderately protruding from lateral contours of head, length of each seen from above subequal to that of postocular region; surface of head without microsculpture; puncturation relatively coarse and dense. Antennae very long, extending to 3/4 of elytra, slightly increasing in width apically, antennomeres 2 and 3 subequal in length, antennomeres 4–10 longer than wide, decreasing in length, antennomere 11 nearly coniform.

Pronotum longer than wide, convex, lateral sides sinuately narrowed to obtuse hind angles; before base with wide and deep transverse impression; surface with fine transversely stretched isodiametric mesh microsculpture; puncturation relatively coarse, very dense, subconfluent and strongly asperate; pubescence at midline directed entirely anteriorly.

Elytra subquadrate, at suture slightly shorter than pronotal length at midline; surface without microsculpture; puncturation fine and dense.

Abdomen widened posteriorly, bases of tergites III–V each with deep transverse impression, impressions coarsely and densely punctate; tergal puncturation fine and moderately dense; surface without microsculpture.

Male. Aedeagus as in Figs. 82–83 View FIGURES 82 – 83 .

Female unknown.

Remarks. Ischnopoderona brunneipennis is very similar to I. densepunctata , from which it can be easily distinguished by the surface of the head without microsculpture (head with distinct microsculpture in I. densepunctata ), the head puncturation similar to that on pronotum (head puncturation finer than that on pronotum in I. densepunctata ), the antennomere 10 paler than preceding antennomeres (antennomere 10 coloured like preceding antennomeres in I. densepunctata ), the pronotum longer than wide (pronotum as long as wide in I. densepunctata ) and by the shape of the aedeagus.

Distribution. Zimbabwe (Map 7).

Ischnopoderona densepunctata Pa ś nik, sp. n. ( Figs. 84–85 View FIGURES 84 – 85 , Map 7)

Type material. Holotype: ɗ: Zambia, Kafue National Park, Chunga Camp, Kafue River, river bank litter, 27– 30.III.1993, M. Uhlig ( ZMHB).

Description. Body. Length 3.0 mm, convex, parallelsided, glossy; body colour brown; elytra and tergites III–IV reddishbrown, antennae brown with antennomeres 1–2 red and 11 yellow, legs brown.

Head circular in outline, convex; eyes relatively large, moderately protruding from lateral contours of head, length of each seen from above subequal to that of postocular region; surface of head with fine isodiametric mesh microsculpture; puncturation relatively coarse and dense. Antennae long, extending to 1/2 of elytra, slightly increasing in width apically, antennomeres 2 and 3 subequal in length, antennomeres 4–10 longer than wide, decreasing in length, antennomere 11 nearly coniform.

Pronotum quadrate, convex, lateral sides sinuately narrowed to obtuse hind angles; before base with wide and deep transverse impression; surface without microsculpture; puncturation relatively coarse, dense, subconfluent and asperate; pubescence at midline directed entirely anteriorly.

Elytra subquadrate, at suture slightly shorter than pronotal length at midline; surface without microsculpture; puncturation fine and dense.

Abdomen widened posteriorly, bases of tergites III–V each with deep transverse impression, first two impressions coarsely and densely punctate, third impression smooth, impunctate; tergal puncturation very fine and relatively dense; surface without microsculpture.

Male. Aedeagus as in Figs. 84–85 View FIGURES 84 – 85 .

Female unknown.

Remarks. See remarks under I. brunneipennis .

Etymology. The name densepunctata refers to the dense and coarse pronotal puncturation.
