Myiomma goellneri sp. nov.

( Figure 13 View FIGURE 13 )

Description. Male. Length 1.85 (figure 13 A). Maximum width across hemelytra 0.8. Head (figures 13B–D) dorsal width 0.4, dorsal length 0.19; facial width 0.27, facial length 0.28. Minimum frontal interocular space 0.01; posterior space 0.04. Maximum width of eye 0.17; height 0.27. Height of gena 0.09. Ocellus width 0.03; interocellar space 0.02. Maximum width of pronotum 0.73; median length 0.3 (figure 13B). Scutellum length 0.25; width 0.34; cuneus length 0.2. Rostrum 0.7. Antennae I 0.07; II 0.52; III 0.13; IV 0.1.

Head deflexed; from above rather narrow, only 2.1x as broad as long, 0.63x as long as pronotum; tumid convex in front, obovate; broadest across postgenae, facial width 0.96x length; laterad 1.68x as high as long. Largely dark red with occipital margin ivory-whitish; vertex behind ocelli somewhat paler, frons at apical margin brighter reddish. Gena about 0.33x height of eye. Antenna I brownish, II largely greyish, pale yellowish in apical quarter; III greyish; IV brownish. II cylindrical, as thick as I; clothed with greyish erect hairs, which are slightly longer then segment is thick. Rostrum I+II pale, III+IV brownish; reaching hind coxae.

Pronotum trapeziform, about 2.4x as broad as long, lateral margins straight; posterior margin bisinuate; calli obsolete; nearly impunctate. Disk chocolate-brown, posterior marginal band ivory-whitish. Mesoscutum impunctate; orange with dark red marking anteriorly on each lobe. Scutellum mostly greyish-brown, with subapical band and lateral margins paler, tip dark.

Hemelytra largely hyaline, pubescent with short brownish hairs; emboliar veins reddish, clavus and cuneus apically somewhat suffused with brown. Membrane greyish hyaline.

Venter including pleura and ostiolar peritreme largely brown to dark reddish brown; basalar sclerite white. Fore coxa white; mid and hind coxae, trochanter, femora generally pale yellow to brownish, hind femur apically faintly brown. Tibiae pale brownish.

Genitalia as illustrated in figure 13E. Endosoma of aedeagus moderately elongate; phallobase markedly basad. Right paramere simple. Proximal bulb of left paramere slightly granulate, pilose. Apical arm smoothly bent.

Female. Unknown.

Specimen examined. ♂ holotype, Liberia: Bong county, en route LRU—Dam 12, 05.vi 1989, 7:10–7:40 am (leg. Garms).

Etymology. This species is named after the great expert of Afrotropical Heteroptera, Ursula Göllner-Scheiding (1922–2016).

Remarks. Myiomma goellneri sp. nov. agrees in many aspects with M. variabilis sp. nov. (see below), with which it may constitute a species group. However, the dorsal coloration and the dorsal head length/pronotum length ratio (0.63 versus 0.77) differ. The new species also shows affinities to rubrovenata from which it can be distinguished again by the pronotum and scutellum coloration, the dorsal head length/pronotum length ratio (0.63 versus 0.57), the antenna II/pronotum width ratio (0.71 versus 0.75).
