Genus Embrikstrandia Plavilstshikov, 1931 View in CoL

EmbrikStrandia Plavilstshikov, 1931: 278. — Gressitt, 1940: 58; Gressitt, 1951: 191; Podany, 1968: 113; Gressitt, Rondon & Breuning, 1970: 136; Nakamura, Makihara & Saito, 1992: 41; Hua, Nara & Yu, 1993: 84, 207.

Embrikstrandia View in CoL — Heffern, 2005: 21.

Type species: Callichroma bimaculatum White, 1853 .

Head slightly produced below; mandibles forming a prominent angle; antennae shorter than body in female, shorter than, or as long as, body in male, scape blunt apically, third segment nearly as long as fourth and fifth segments combined, apical segments angular in cross section and slightly produced ectoapically; pronotum roundedtuberculate laterally, constricted at apex and base; scutellum triangular; elytra gradually narrowed posteriorly, rounded apically; mesosternal intercoxal process broad, emarginate; hind femora not reaching apices of elytra in female, barely, or not, attaining them in male; first metatarsal segment a little longer than following two combined, somewhat compressed laterally.

The genus Embrikstrandia closely resembles Zonopterus but differs in having the first and third antennal segments unspined ectoapically, the pronotum with distinct lateral tubercles, the hind femora longer, the first metarsal segment compressed and distinctly longer than the following two segments combined, and the elytra tapering posteriorly.

Distribution. China, IndoChina.

Remarks. Currently, both " EmbrikStrandia " and " Embrikstrandia " are being used as the name of the genus. However, according to the fourth edition (1999) of International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (http://www.iczn.org/iczn/), Embrikstrandia should be the proper name for the genus ( Heffern, 2005).
