Discussion. This species was originally introduced by Eichwald (1851) as Cerithium connexum , which was also used on the plate captions of his atlas in Eichwald (1852). In his “Lethaea rossica” (1853), however, he changed the spelling into Cerithium convexum , which was adopted by later authors. Thus, Cerithium convexum is an incorrect subsequent spelling, which is also evident from the fact that Eichwald (1853: 158) again used Cerithium connexum . The lectotype, however, represents Potamides disjunctus (J. de C. Sowerby, 1832) .
Central Paratethys. Sarmatian, Volhynian (Middle Miocene): Polish-Ukrainian Fore-Carpathian Basin: Novokonstyantyniv, Zavadyntsi (Khmel'nytskyi Region), Zalistsi, Zhukivtsi (Ternopil Region, Ukraine); Camenca, Grigoriopol ( Moldova) ( Eichwald 1853).
Eastern Paratethys. Sarmatian, Bessarabian (Late Miocene): Moldavian Platform: Hârtop ( Romania) ( Simionescu & Barbu 1940); Dacian Basin: Coada-Malului, Colecţia, Nisipurile de Buzdugana, Ruşavăt-Buzău, Scăioşi ( Romania) (Stefanescu 1897; Simionescu & Barbu 1940; Ionesi et al. 2005).
