* Cerithium kovalevskii nov. sp. — A.A. Ali-Zade 1967: 208, pl. 77, figs 1–5.

Type material. Ali-Zade (1967) mentioned a holotype but is unclear, which of the illustrated specimens is the holotype; the largest specimen: SL: 13.5 mm, MD: 5.5 mm. Earth Science Museum at Moscow State University ( The Museum of Natural History ) .

Type locality. Danata ( Turkmenistan) .

Stratigraphy. Late Pliocene/Pleistocene, Akchagylian.

Discussion. Based on slender shells of Potamides caspius with reduced spiral sculpture and weak axial sculpture. The inflated last whorl might indicate parasitized specimens.

Eastern Paratethys. Akchagylian (Late Pliocene/Pleistocene): Caspian Basin: Danata, Small Balkhan, western Kopet Dag ( Turkmenistan) ( Ali-Zade 1967).
