LECTOTYPE: AMNH 689392 , adult male, collected at Kakamega (5 Kakamegoes), 00.17N, 34.45E ( Polhill, 1988), Kenya, on 15 February 1917, by J. Allen Turner (no. 1208) for Richard Meinertzhagen. From the Rothschild Collection.

COMMENTS: In the original description, the data given for the type, said to be in the Rothschild Collection, applied to three speci- mens. Hartert (1928a: 206) listed the type of kakamegae as Turner’s specimen no. 1208, thereby designating it the lectotype. Van Someren (1921: 113) gave the range of kakamegae as ‘‘North Kavirondo and Nandi, Yala River, Kaimosi, and Nandi Escarpment.’’ There are four specimens from the Rothschild Collection that are paralectotypes: van Someren Collection, Kisumu, AMNH 689389, male, 17 June 1915; collected by Turner, Kakamegoes, AMNH 689390 (Turner no. 1152), male, 11 February 1917, AMNH 689391 (1206), male, 15 February 1917, AMNH 689393 (1207), male, 15 February 1917.
