World distribution: China [not India] ( Walker 1853: 207; Kimmins 1949a: 777; Liu et al. 2007a: 22; Oswald 2024a).
Note: No modern confirmed occurrence records are known from India. Previous Indian occurrence citations appear to be misidentifications. Protohermes costalis is currently considered to be endemic to China ( Martins et al. 2022).
