Barbibucca biremis ( Kolbe, 1900) View in CoL

Nemoptera biremis Kolbe, 1900: 16 . Type locality: South Africa (Cape Colony [ Capland ]).

Eretmoptera neglecta Navás, 1910g: 365 . Type locality: Originally unknown, now considered to be somewhere in South Africa.

World distribution: South Africa [not India] ( Kolbe 1900: 18; Oswald 2024a).

Note: No verified occurrence records are known from India. Earlier inclusions of this species in the Indian fauna (e.g., Ghosh & Sen 1977: 299; Chandra & Sharma 2010: 20) were based solely on the speculative statement by Navás in the original description of Eretmoptera neglecta that its holotype, which lacks locality data, might have been collected in India. The holotype of Eretmoptera neglecta has now been demonstrated to be conspecific with the South African species Barbibucca biremis (see Tjeder 1967: 433; Ábrahám 2014: 182–183), so there is now no basis for retaining this species as a member of the Indian fauna.
