The specimen here considered the primary type for Carpophilus ventralis does not already bear an NHM “TYPE” label; however, there is a handwritten “type” on the card mount itself and the data match the material used in the original descriptions perfectly. In this case the specimen was verified as a female with matching locality information, Sharp mentioned only having two females and no male was known. Labels for the specimen are as follows: “S.
